TRANSCENDING
An artist from the big city is reeling from a breakup after his wife leaves him for a DJ. Newly single, he takes their anniversary trip to Kansas City, MO where he ends up in a romantic three-way with the mysterious widow that runs the BnB and the spirit of her dead husband living in its walls.

And I believe we have created something that will outlast the moment, turning personal truth into a permanent landmark in indie cinema.
I am so humbled and grateful to announce that we're getting a first glimpse at recognition for this effort.
We won the Patrons Circle Grant from Seed&Spark, courtesy of Mark Duplass. It brings tears to my eyes just to type this sentence.
This grant focuses on art that elevates underrepresented voices, regional stories, and first-time filmmakers.
Obviously this isn't my first time making cinema, but it does count as a feature debut for myself, the lead actress who also wrote the film, and our director (who had an HBO show, but that is a series, not a feature).
Regional story? Hands-down.
We filmed this 100% in and around Kansas City last year, where the screenwriter is from:
A Midwestern mom and teacher with a dream she took to Hollywood of telling a story rooted in the Heartland. Raleigh Cain spent years studying screenwriting and acting, at which I quickly noticed she is a natural.
Under-represented voices? For sure.
We have made some strides in this industry in my lifetime, but black characters are still at the precipice of what they could be due to lack of access in traditional filmmaking.
This script was brought to life by a cast of talented, black actors. The development process, the humor, and the execution was done with their collaboration.
Our lead actor, Tone Bell, for example, provided daily insights and feedback on the script that brought depth to his character, Robby, as well as Robby's relationship dynamics throughout the story.
We’re finishing the movie right now. I've watched it 100 times. And still...
I laugh at every joke, startle at every scare, and sniffle at the big tear-jerking moment I won't spoil for you just yet.
Raleigh Cain has masterfully married absurd humor with heartfelt drama. And just when you’re settled in, director Mike Luciano pulls the rug out from under you with satirical horror, using paranormal elements that make you jump and laugh in the same breath.
